Marlyn Ving (Israel / Israel)
Investigadora, crítica y realizadora audiovisual. Cuatro de sus libros han sido publicados -dos de ellos acerca del cine ultra-ortodoxo, “Cine Ortodoxo y “Su propio cine -La Nueva Ola Femenina de cine ultra-ortodoxo, publicado por Resling). Ha sido jurado para festivales de cine en Israel y el exterior, además de asistir como panelista y conferencista. Sirvió como parte del Consejo de Cine Israelí y es actualmente una miembro del Consejo de Segunda Autoridad en TV y Radio de Israel. En este momento es crítica de cine, e investiga el campo de la filosofía del cine, mientras trabaja en su nuevo largometraje.
Marlyn Bing es madre de 7 hijos y abuela de 2 nietos, abrió caminos de investigación sobre el cine ultra-ortodoxo y se dio a conocer como la primera crítica del cine ortodoxo en el mundo.
Critic, researcher and filmmaker. Four of her books have been published - two of them, about ultra-Orthodox cinema, (“Orthodox cinema and “Their own cinema – The New Female Wave of Ultra-Orthodox Cinema, published by Resling). She served as a judge at film festivals in Israel and abroad, as a lecturer and instructor. Served as a member of the Israeli Film Council and is currently a member of the Second Authority TV and Radio Council in Israel. These days she is a film critic at Portfolio. and is engaged in research in the field of the philosophy of cinema, working at the same time on a new feature film.
Marlyn Vinig is a mother of seven children and a grandmother of two grandchildren, she paved the way in research about ultra-orthodox cinema, and broke ground as the first Orthodox film critic in the world.
Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel (México / Mexico)
Nació en 1966 en La Orilla, Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, México. Es fundador y vicepresidente del Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia. Estudió arquitectura en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México y en la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.
Fue vicepresidente ejecutivo de la Fundación para la Democracia -alternativa y debate- a.c. durante dos décadas y actualmente es vicepresidente del Centro Lázaro Cárdenas y Amalia Solórzano, a.c. Además de su labor en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia, ha sido asesor para asuntos culturales del Jefe de Gobierno de la Ciudad de México y ha colaborado en el diseño e implementación de políticas públicas relativas al desarrollo a través de la cultura, así como en la planeación de varios festivales culturales en México y América Latina. Ha sido jurado en el Fondo para la Producción Cinematográfica de Calidad y en diversos festivales y concursos cinematográficos.
Born in 1966 in La Orilla, Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Mexico. He is the founder and vice-president of the Morelia International Film Festival. He studied architecture in the Autonomous National University of Mexico and the Autonomous Metropolitan University, was executive vice-president of the Democracy Foundation -alternative and debate- for two decades and is nowadays the vice-president of the Lázaro Cárdenas and Amalia Solórzano Center. Apart from his work in the Morelia International Film Festival, he has been a consultant for cultural matters of the Chief of Government of Mexico City and collaborated with the design and implementation of public politics for development through the culture, as well as the planning of multiple festivals in Mexico and Latin America. He has been a jury member for the Quality Cinematography Production Fund and multiple festivals and cinematographic awards.
Simón Mesa Soto (Colombia /Colombia)
Director, guionista y productor colombiano. Estudió Comunicación Audiovisual en la Universidad de Antioquia y posteriormente cursó una Maestría en la Escuela de Cine de Londres, donde su cortometraje de graduación, Leidi (2014), ganó la Palma de Oro en el Festival de Cine de Cannes. Con su siguiente cortometraje, Madre (2016), fue nuevamente seleccionado en la competencia oficial del Festival de Cannes. Ambos cortometrajes tuvieron amplio recorrido en festivales de todo el mundo. Amparo (2021), su primer largometraje, se estrenó en la Semana de la Crítica de Cannes, donde ganó el premio a la mejor actriz. La película ha recorrido más de 40 festivales de cine de todo el mundo y ha sido premiada en Chicago, Lima y Punta del Este, entre otros festivales. Simón desarrolla actualmente Un poeta, su segundo largometraje.
Colombian director, screenwriter, and producer. He studied Audiovisual Communication in the University of Antioquia and later did a master degree in the School of Cinema in London, and the short film he did to graduate, Leidi (2014), won the Palme d‘Or in Cannes Film Festival. With his next short film, Madre (2016), he was selected again for the Official Competition of Cannes. Both short films had a wide distribution throughout multiple festivals around the world. Amparo (2021), his first feature film, premiered in the International Critics’ Week of Cannes, where it won the prize for Best Actress. The movie has gone to more than 40 festivals around the world and has won awards in Chicago, Lima and Punta del Este, among others. Nowadays Simón is developing Un poeta, his second feature film.
