Returning to Paris, his birthplace, a man (Riz Ahmed) moves through memories of his past and surreal fragments of the present, searching for connection with his estranged father (Yousfi Henine). On his journey, he meets a French Algerian woman (Souheila Yacoub) who welcomes him into her world. As their intimacy grows, he is confronted with his shame and fears while exploring his lost Arab identity… Behind Paris is Algiers.

Nacido en París y criado en Londres como hombre de ascendencia franco argelina, Demange se dio a conocer dirigiendo las series DEADSET y TOP BOY, nominadas a los BAFTA, y recibiendo el Premio del Cine Independiente Británico al Mejor Director con 71. Ahora trabaja en Estados Unidos, donde ha dirigido recientemente WHITE BOY RICK, el episodio piloto de LOVECRAFT COUNTRY de la HBO, ha sido productor ejecutivo de MOGUL MOWGLI y ahora dirige la próxima película de Marvel BLADE y la serie de la HBO SCANNERS.
Born in Paris and raised in London as a man of French Algerian heritage, Demange made a name for himself directing BAFTA nominated series DEADSET and TOP BOY and receiving the British Independent Film Award for Best Director with 71. Now working in the US, Yann most recently directed WHITE BOY RICK, the pilot episode of HBOs LOVECRAFT COUNTRY, served as an Executive Producer on MOGUL MOWGLI, and is now directing the upcoming Marvel film BLADE and HBOs series SCANNERS.
