CONVOCATORIA #VIDEOENSAYOPOST / #VIDEOESSAYPOST CALL (English Below)
Como parte de la estrategia BOGOSHORTS #UnosMinutosDespués, que comprende una serie de actividades realizadas desde el mes de abril de 2020 para reflexionar sobre la crisis de salud pública ocasionada por la COVID-19 y proponer líneas de acción para la industria cinematográfica, lanzamos también la convocatoria #VideoensayoPost, en el marco de la convocatoria oficial para el 18° Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá – BOGOSHORTS.
La convocatoria #VideoensayoPost está dirigida a realizadores de todo el mundo que deseen presentar sus inquietudes o ideas sobre los efectos posteriores que tendrá en la sociedad la pandemia y las medidas adoptadas para controlarla, a través del formato del videoensayo. Las obras presentadas en la convocatoria pueden usar cualquier tipo de material audiovisual existente: imágenes y sonidos de películas o programas de televisión, contenido publicado en redes sociales, found footage, videos caseros, entre otros, así como material producido específicamente para la pieza, que al ser puestos en relación alrededor de una narración, oral o escrita, argumentan una idea o sugieren soluciones a las preguntas que surgen a partir de esta crisis. ¿Cuándo saldremos de casa? ¿Cómo se verá afectada la economía, y particularmente, la industria cinematográfica? ¿Podremos volver a abrazarnos, o ir a una sala de cine? ¿Cómo cambiarán nuestras relaciones interpersonales, nuestra relación con la naturaleza, el desarrollo de la vida diaria al finalizar la cuarentena? ¿Cómo podemos estimular la #FeEnElFuturo? Invitamos a los cineastas a desarrollar piezas cinematográficas que aborden estas u otras preguntas, o que planteen una posición crítica hacia la respuesta de la sociedad, de la industria del cine, de los sectores políticos y demás, ante la pandemia.
Las obras seleccionadas harán parte de un programa especial exhibido en línea, de manera libre y gratuita, del 18° Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá – BOGOSHORTS, que se realizará el 8 al 15 de diciembre de 2020. El propósito es promover la reflexión en formato de videoensayo, y compartir con todo el mundo la visión del futuro post-cuarentena que tienen los cineastas, a través de una amplia estrategia de comunicación desarrollada por el festival.
BASES Y CONDICIONES:
- Para participar, los realizadores deben diligenciar completamente este formulario y proveer un enlace, público o privado, de su obra subida en plataformas de difusión en línea de video como YouTube o Vimeo. La convocatoria estará abierta hasta Septiembre 15, 2020.
- Se recibirán obras realizadas desde enero de 2020, cuando comenzaron las primeras medidas de control del brote de COVID-19, y hasta septiembre de 2020, con una duración máxima de 30 minutos.
- No se exige un carácter de estreno para la participación de la convocatoria. Las obras podrán haber estado públicas en línea antes de la celebración del festival. El objetivo es ampliar el alcance de las reflexiones propuestas por los realizadores.
- La producción y difusión de estas obras está basada en el “uso justo, legítimo o razonable” de material audiovisual preexistente, por el carácter académico, reflexivo y/o informativo de las piezas que invitamos a presentar en la convocatoria. Las obras se recibirán subidas en las cuentas personales de los realizadores en plataformas de almacenamiento y difusión de video como YouTube o Vimeo, y los realizadores serán los únicos responsables de las opiniones expresadas y del uso de material audiovisual.
- Para determinar las obras seleccionadas en este programa, el equipo del festival revisará las obras presentadas para verificar que cumplen con los criterios conceptuales de la convocatoria. No se aceptarán obras que incluyan material pornográfico o contenidos que inciten a la violencia o la discriminación por motivos de origen, raza, género o religión.
- En caso de que la narración oral o escrita no sea en español o inglés, las obras presentadas deberán contar con subtítulos en uno de estos idiomas. Ya que será un programa de exhibición en línea y se busca un alcance global con las obras, los realizadores deben considerar que tendrán mayor difusión si cuentan con subtítulos en inglés si son hablados en español, y viceversa.
- La selección y exhibición de este programa especial no tiene carácter competitivo. No se entregarán premios por la participación en el programa. Sin embargo, la selección será comunicada en los diferentes canales de BOGOSHORTS y se promoverá la visualización de las obras antes y durante la realización del festival, en el sitio web del mismo.
- Esta inscripción es solo válida para la convocatoria especial #VideoEnsayoPost; no equivale a una inscripción a las Competencias Oficiales del #18BOGOSHORTS. Conozca el proceso de inscripción para las mismas, AQUÍ.

#VIDEOESSAYPOST CALL
As part of the BOGOSHORTS’ #UnosMinutosDespués (#AFewMinutesAfter) strategy, which includes a series of activities carried out since April 2020 to reflect on the public health crisis caused by COVID-19 and propose lines of action for the film industry, we’re also launching the call #VideoessayPost, within the framework of the official call for the 18° Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá - BOGOSHORTS.
The #VideoessayPost call is aimed to filmmakers from all over the world who wish to present their concerns or ideas about the subsequent effects that the pandemic will have on society and the measures taken to control it, through the video-essay format. The works submitted to the call can use any type of existing audiovisual material: images and sounds from movies or television programs, content published on social networks, found footage, home videos, among others, as well as material produced specifically for the piece, which when put in relation around a narration, oral or written, they argue an idea or suggest solutions to the questions that arise from this crisis. When will we leave home? How will the economy, and particularly the film industry, be affected? Are we gonna be able to hug again, or go to a movie theater? How will our interpersonal relationships, our relationship with nature and the development of daily life change at the end of quarantine? How can we stimulate #FaithInTheFuture? We invite filmmakers to develop cinematographic pieces that address these or other questions, or that pose a critical position towards the response of society, the film industry, the political sectors and others, to the pandemic.
The selected works will be part of a special program exhibited online and free of charge, during the 18° Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá - BOGOSHORTS, to be held from December 8 to 15, 2020. The purpose is to promote reflection in video-essay format, and share with everyone the vision that filmmakers have of the post-quarantine future, through an extensive communication strategy developed by the festival.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- To participate, the filmmakers must completely fill out this form and provide a link, public or private, of their work uploaded to online video broadcasting platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo. The submission process will be open until September 15, 2020.
- We’ll receive works produced since January 2020, when the first measures to control the COVID-19 outbreak began, and until September, 2020, with a maximum length of 30 minutes.
- A premiere status is not required to participate on the call. The works may have been public online before the festival. The objective is to broaden the reception of the reflections proposed by the filmmakers.
- The production and dissemination of these works is based on the “fair, legitimate or reasonable use” of pre-existing audiovisual material, due to the academic, reflective and / or informative nature of the pieces that we invite to the call. The works will be received uploaded to the personal accounts of the filmmakers on online video broadcasting platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo, and the filmmakers will be responsible for the opinions expressed and the use of audiovisual material.
- To determine the works selected for this program, the festival team will review the works presented to verify that they meet the conceptual criteria of the call. Works that include pornographic material or content that incites violence or discrimination based on origin, race, gender or religion will not be accepted.
- In case the oral or written narration is not in Spanish or English, the works presented must have subtitles in one of these languages. Since it will be an online exhibition program and we seek a global reach for it, the filmmakers should consider that they will be more widely received if they have Spanish subtitles if they are spoken in English, and vice versa.
- The selection and exhibition of this special program is not competitive. No prizes will be awarded for participation in the program. However, the selection will be communicated on the different BOGOSHORTS channels and we’ll promote the visualization of the works before and during the festival, on the festival’s website.
- This submission is only valid for the special call #VideoessayPost; it is not equivalent to a submission to the Official Competitions of the #18BOGOSHORTS. Learn about the submission process for them, HERE.
