El cine de animación no solo representa un espacio de libertad creativa y experimentación narrativa, sino que también es un medio poderoso para abordar temas universales y emocionales de manera accesible. En el contexto actual, en América Latina y el mundo, es crucial encontrar caminos alternativos para su circulación, pues la animación enfrenta barreras significativas en términos de distribución, especialmente para los creadores independientes y regionales. Las plataformas tradicionales de exhibición y distribución suelen estar dominadas por producciones de gran presupuesto, lo que limita la visibilidad de las voces emergentes y locales en la animación. En este contexto aprovechamos la presencia del director de Chilemonos, festival insignia de la animación en Latinoamérica y de expertas presentes en BOGOSHORTS para el Taller de Distribución en Animación del Programa Otros Ojos, con la finalidad de reflexionar junto a ellos acerca de estos caminos alternativos tan necesarios.
Animation cinema not only represents a space for creative freedom and narrative experimentation but is also a powerful medium to address universal and emotional themes in an accessible way. In the current context, in Latin America and around the world, it is crucial to find alternative paths for its distribution, as animation faces significant barriers, especially for independent and regional creators. Traditional exhibition and distribution platforms are often dominated by high-budget productions, which limits the visibility of emerging and local voices in animation. In this context, we take advantage of the presence of the director of Chilemonos, the flagship animation festival in Latin America, and experts present at BOGOSHORTS for the Animation Distribution Workshop of the Otros Ojos Program to reflect with them on these much-needed alternative pathways..
