La comedia ha sido históricamente uno de los géneros cinematográficos más representativos de la industria cinematográfica, desde los primero guiños de El regador regado de los Lumière, pasando por el Slapstick, hasta el contundente impacto comercial en el cine más mainstream, su importancia es innegable. Sin embargo, en Colombia los realizadores emergentes parecen huir del humor. Posiblemente un país tan cargado de oscuridades o quizá el ejemplo continuo de largometrajes que se concentraron en la comedia más popular y efectista, podrían ser algunos de los factores de tal distanciamiento. Esta conversación entre el director del festival español Humor en Corto y el director de cine Harold Trompetero, podría darnos algunas luces y sobre todo invitarnos a reconsiderar la innegable necesidad de poder reír con inteligencia en nuestro cine corto.
Comedy has historically been one of the most representative cinematic genres in the film industry, from the first nods of El regador regado by the Lumière brothers, through Slapstick, to the powerful commercial impact of it on mainstream cinema; its importance is undeniable. However, in Colombia, emerging filmmakers seem to shy away from humor. Possibly, a country so burdened with darkness, or perhaps the ongoing example of feature films that focused on more popular and sensationalist comedy, could be some of the factors behind this distancing. This conversation between the director of the Spanish festival Humor en Corto and filmmaker Harold Trompetero may shed some light on the issue and, above all, invite us to reconsider the undeniable need to laugh intelligently in our short cinema.
