Sofía, una niña curiosa e imaginativa, enfrenta desafíos en la escuela mientras comienza a navegar las complejidades de su identidad multirracial. Sus dibujos cobran vida en animaciones llenas de fantasía y la acompañan en un viaje de autoconocimiento, marcado por dudas, resiliencia y aprendizajes sobre el sentido de pertenencia. Sofía aprende a abrazar los matices que la definen, fusionando amor, cultura e individualidad en una narrativa única.
Sofía, a curious and imaginative young girl, faces challenges at school as she begins to navigate the complexities of her mixed-race identity. As her art springs to life through vibrant and whimsical animations, the story delves into Sofia’s journey of self-discovery, capturing her confusion, resilience, and profound lessons about belonging. Sofia learns to embrace the shades that define her, blending love, culture, and individuality into a unique narrative.
Loren Escandón
Loren Escandón es una cineasta afrocolombiana cuyo trabajo explora la resiliencia de las mujeres de color. Su corto debut, Los Patines, ganó Mejor Corto en San Pedro y Mejor Dirección en NYC Downtown Shorts, lo que le valió la beca Hola México Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today. Su segundo corto, The Last Store, se estrenó en Fantastic Fest y obtuvo el Premio a la Dirección en FilmQuest. Becaria LFI Inclusion 2025, realizó Gris con apoyo de Netflix y desarrolla su primer largometraje, Berries.
Loren Escandón is an Afro-Colombian filmmaker whose work highlights the resilience of women of color. Her debut short, Los Patines, won Best Short at San Pedro and Best Director at NYC Downtown Shorts, earning her the Hola Mexico Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today Fellowship. Her second short, The Last Store, premiered at Fantastic Fest and won the Director’s Prize at FilmQuest. A 2025 LFI Inclusion Fellow, she directed Gris with Netflix support and is now developing her first feature, Berries.
