Aislado durante el confinamiento por la COVID, Xavier filma los vuelos hipnóticos de estorninos desde las azoteas de su pueblo en España. Sus movimientos le despiertan recuerdos de su diagnóstico de VIH y un profundo anhelo de conexión. Entre mensajes de voz con su compañero en Brasil, el espíritu desafiante de los primeros activistas del sida en Nueva York y la fuerza de los rituales afrobrasileños del candomblé, la película medita sobre el duelo, la memoria y la resiliencia colectiva.
Isolated during the COVID lockdowns, Xavier films the mesmerizing flights of starlings over his hometown in Spain. Their movements awaken memories of his HIV diagnosis and a deep longing for connection. Through voice messages with his lover in Brazil, the defiant spirit of early AIDS activism in New York, and the ancestral force of Afro-Brazilian Candomblé rituals, the film unfolds as a layered meditation on grief, survival, and collective resilience.

Xavier Marrades
Xavier Marrades es cineasta documental, montador y artista visual. Originario de Cataluña, vive y trabaja entre España, Nueva York y Brasil. Es Máster en Cine Documental Creativo por la School of Visual Arts. Sus películas han sido seleccionadas en festivales internacionales como IDFA, Sheffield, New York Film Festival y New Directors/New Films, y han recibido premios en Cartagena de Indias y Bogoshorts por dos de sus cortometrajes anteriores.
Xavier Marrades is a documentary filmmaker, editor and visual artist. Originally from Catalonia, he lives and works between Spain, New York City and Brazil.
He holds an MFA in Creative Documentary from the School of Visual Arts. His films have been screened at international festivals such as IDFA, Sheffield, the New York Film Festival and New Directors/New Films, and have received awards at Cartagena de Indias and Bogoshorts for two of his previous short films.
