El ensayo getty abortions examina cómo los medios de comunicación alemanes y austriacos ilustran el tema del aborto, navegando por fotos de archivo, revistas para adolescentes y documentos de una experiencia abortiva real. Salta de principios de la década de 2000 a finales del siglo XIX, busca conocimientos feministas y charlas con personajes de ficción. Pero queda una pregunta en el aire: ¿por qué nadie mira a la cámara?
What do abortions look like? What kind of images shape our view on them? And where do these images come from? The desktop essay getty abortions examines how German and Austrian media illustrate the topic of abortion, browsing through stock photos, teen magazines and documents of a real abortion experience. It jumps from the early 2000s to the late 19th century, seeks out feminist knowledge and chats with fictional characters. But one question remains: Why does no one look into the camera?
Franzis Kabisch
Cineasta, investigadora artística y escritora, residente en Berlín y Viena. Es doctoranda de la Academia de Bellas Artes de Viena e investigadora invitada de la Universidad Cinematográfica de Babelsberg. Su investigación artística y científica se centra en las representaciones del aborto en el cine y la televisión, las políticas corporales y la justicia reproductiva. Por su trabajo ha recibido numerosos galardones, entre ellos la Paloma de Oro del DOK de Leipzig, el Premio Cathrin Pichler y el OAW DOC-Stipendium.
Filmmaker, artistic researcher, and writer, based in Berlin and Vienna. She is a PhD candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and a guest researcher at the Film University Babelsberg. Her artistic and scientific research is focused on the depictions of abortion in film and television, body politics and reproductive justice. For her work, she has received numerous awards, among them the Golden Dove at DOK Leipzig, the Cathrin Pichler Prize and the OAW DOC-Stipendium.
