José Roberto Torero
Nació en Santos, Sao Paulo, en 1963. Allí estudió letras, periodismo y varios cursos de guión y producción cinematográfica, disciplinas todas ellas que combina en sus creaciones. Es autor de más de treinta títulos, entre ellos O Chalaça (Premio Jabuti, 1995), Pequenos Amores (Premio Jabuti, 2002) y Papis et Circenses (Premio Paraná de Literatura, 2012). Ha trabajado como guionista de cine y televisión, y en el año 2004 dirigió el largometraje Como fazer um filme de amor. Precisamente a raíz de su guión para un cortometraje (que bajo el mismo título fue nominado a los Óscar en el año 2000) nació Una historia de fútbol, hoy lectura obligatoria en muchas escuelas brasileñas.
He was born in Santos, Sao Paulo, in 1963. There he studied literature, journalism, and several courses in screenwriting and film production, all disciplines that he combines in his creations. He is the author of more than thirty titles, including O Chalaça (Jabuti Award, 1995), Pequenos Amores (Jabuti Award, 2002), and Papis et Circenses (Paraná Literature Award, 2012). He has worked as a screenwriter for film and television, and in 2004 he directed the feature film Como fazer um filme de amor. It was precisely as a result of his screenplay for a short film (which was nominated for an Oscar in 2000 under the same title) that Una historia de fútbol was born, now required reading in many Brazilian schools.
