Sergei Loznitsa
Director, guionista y productor ucraniano nacido en 1964, con formación inicial en Matemáticas Aplicadas y experiencia en investigación sobre inteligencia artificial. En 1997 se graduó en dirección cinematográfica del Instituto Estatal de Cine Ruso (VGIK) y desde 1996 ha dirigido 17 documentales. Su película Blockade (2005) destaca por el uso de archivos del Sitio de Leningrado. Su ópera prima My Joy (2010) y In the Fog (2012) fueron estrenadas en la Competencia Oficial del Festival de Cannes, esta última ganadora del Premio FIPRESCI. En 2013 fundó la productora ATOMS & VOID y continúa trabajando en documental y ficción.
Ukrainian director, screenwriter, and producer born in 1964, with initial training in Applied Mathematics and experience in artificial intelligence research. In 1997, he graduated in film directing from the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) and since 1996 has directed 17 documentaries. His film Blockade (2005) stands out for its use of archives from the Siege of Leningrad. His debut feature My Joy (2010) and In the Fog (2012) were premiered in the Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival, with the latter winning the FIPRESCI Prize. In 2013, he founded the production company ATOMS & VOID and continues to work in documentary and fiction.
