Nara Normande (1986) es una cineasta lesbiana del noreste de Brasil. Codirigió junto a Tião el cortometraje Sem Coração, que ganó el Premio Illy en la Quincena de Realizadores de Cannes en 2014. En 2018, su cortometraje animado Guaxuma, coproducido con Francia, mezcla varias técnicas de animación relacionadas con la arena y fue seleccionado para competir en Annecy y el TIFF, ganando varios premios, entre ellos el de Mejor Animación en SXSW, Palm Springs, Hamptons y el Festival de Cine de Nueva Orleans. Estrenó su primer largometraje, Heartless, codirigido por Tião, en la competición Orizzonti del Festival de Cine de Venecia en 2023. La película ganó el premio del jurado en el Festival d'Amiens, el premio Coral en el Festival de Cine de La Habana y el premio a la mejor fotografía y a la mejor película LGBTQIA + en el Festival do Rio.
Nara Normande (1986) is a lesbian filmmaker from the northeast of Brazil. She co-directed with Tião the short film Sem Coração, which won the Illy Award at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2014. In 2018, her animated short Guaxuma, co-produced with France, mixes several animation techniques connected to sand and was selected to Annecy and TIFF’s competition, winning several awards including Best Animation at SXSW, Palm Springs, Hamptons and New Orleans Film Festival. She premièred her first feature film, Heartless, co-directed by Tião, in the Orizzonti Competition of Venice Film Festival in 2023. The film won the jury prize at Festival d’Amiens, the Coral prize at Havana Film Festival and best photography and the best LGBTQIA + film at Festival do Rio.
